During my senior year at Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, I reported on a story following a bill that would allow public school teachers to carry concealed weapons on campus. The bill was introduced in response to the attack at Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that took place the previous year. The story is similar to a sweeps package in terms of length and depth. It won the National Scholastic Press Association’s 2013 Broadcast Story of the Year award. Here is a link to the story.
